Does INSPIRE Coordination exist at Member State level?

Article 18 of the INSPIRE Directive 2007/2/EC requires Member States to implement the appropriate structures and mechanisms for coordinating across different levels of government and all those with an interest in INSPIRE.

INSPIRE has the potential to impact a very wide range of bodies beyond the public sector and as such one would expect to see national coordination bodies established that operate openly and transparently.

Although the INSPIRE Directive comes into force in Member States on 15 May 2009 there are deadlines that precede this such as the Metadata rules have to be agreed by the 15 May 2008! As such Member States should have in place the national coordination bodies in order to meet such deadlines!

At the current time it would appear that the Member State INSPIRE coordinating bodies are as elusive as the PSI Asset lists!

The PSI Directive did not require such coordination bodies to be established at the Member State level although they are beginning to form in some Member States for example Finland.

A PSI Group does exist at the European Union level that meets twice per year on average for details visit:

Question 1: Are there INSPIRE Coordination bodies in existence within Member States?

Question 2: Are there signs that INSPIRE Coordination bodies are forming within member States?

Question 3: Are the Member State nominated INSPIRE coordination contact body acting openly and transparently?
